Khaberni - Today, the Russian military command announced the resumption of its siege on Ukrainian force positions in the city of Kupyansk, northeastern Ukraine, in the context of what it described as "the final stage of cutting supply lines" on the eastern front.

According to an official statement, Russia offered Ukrainian soldiers two options: either immediate surrender or withdrawal towards areas classified as "safe" with guarantees of safe passage towards their rear positions.

In response, the Ukrainian command denied the imposition of a full siege on the city, describing the Russian announcement as part of "psychological warfare and media exaggeration," pointing out that Ukrainian forces still control the city and that Russian advance attempts have been thwarted so far without recording cases of mass surrender.

Kupyansk is considered a pivotal location in the Kharkiv region, due to its position on the Oskil river and vital supply intersections. Military observers believe that Russia aims to gradually encircle the city, in preparation for gaining control over a strategic crossroads in the region.

These developments reflect a change in Russian operational tactics, where the Russian army focuses on depleting Ukrainian capabilities through siege and cutting supplies instead of direct confrontation, indicating a shift in combat strategy that may affect the course of upcoming battles in the region.

In light of this escalation, Western sources warned of the possibility of wider confrontations, which could give this local battle larger regional dimensions within the broader Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
