Important clarification from Amman Municipality about the roofing discount

Khaberni - Youssef Shawarbeh, the head of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee, said on Wednesday that the 20% discount on "roofings" announced officially today will impact everyone.

He added that for those who paid before the decision, a credit will be recorded for the following year, so that everyone can benefit from the penalty discount, according to Al Mamlaka channel.

The Minister of Government Communication, the government spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Momani, announced that the Cabinet has approved a package of financial facilitations including new discounts and incentives on the building and land tax (roofings), the education tax, and the sewage system contribution fees within the municipal boundaries and Amman Municipality.

Al-Momani said during a press conference held on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Cabinet session that the decision grants a 20% discount on taxes and fees due for the current year and previous years, if all dues are paid before the end of December 31, 2025.

He explained that the government has decided to allow the installment payment of the building and land tax (roofings), the education tax, and the sewage system contribution fees owed by taxpayers until the end of 2025, to facilitate and encourage them to comply with the payments.

Al-Momani noted that the decision also includes giving taxpayers who have paid their due taxes since the beginning of the year until the date the decision was issued the same discount, which will be credited to them at the beginning of 2026, in addition to the incentive discount provided for in the law.

He added that the government has decided to increase the incentive discount rate for taxpayers who comply with the payment of the building and land tax for 2026 to become 10% instead of 8%, if the amounts due are paid within the first two months of the coming year.

Al-Momani confirmed that the decisions aim to motivate citizens to settle their financial obligations and to enhance public revenue in ways that are fair and considerate of taxpayers' economic circumstances.
