Khaberni - In a big surprise, the American federal authorities have decided to grant early release to American rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, on May 8, 2028, due to good behavior during his prison sentence.
According to the "Daily Mail", citing the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons, this date depends on the compliance of the 55-year-old star with the rules inside his detention, meaning he will only serve 85% of his 50-month sentence.
"Diddy" is currently serving his sentence at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, after being convicted of charges related to prostitution and extortion, where he was sentenced to more than four years in prison at the beginning of this month, while the prosecution had sought a sentence of up to 11 years.
New Rehabilitation Institution
"Diddy" benefits from the "First Step Act" which allows federal inmates to reduce their sentences through participation in rehabilitation programs and good behavior.
In this regard, reports indicate that no violations have been recorded against him since he entered prison in September 2024.
American reports have also revealed that Diddy might soon be transferred to another rehabilitation facility, without specifying his new destination after his previous request to be moved to Fort Dix in New Jersey, which houses an addiction treatment program and is close to his family, was denied.
Apology
During the sentencing session, the star made an emotional apology to his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who appeared in a video clip in 2024 as he assaulted her in a hotel.
"Diddy" tearfully told the judge: "I want to personally apologize to Cassie and everyone I hurt, I was sick with drugs and drowning in ego, what I did was disgusting and shameful."
He added, addressing his mother who attended the session: "Mom, I have disappointed you as a son."
These developments come at a time when the repercussions of the fall of one of the most prominent icons of the American music industry, who was known for his elegance, wealth, and influence, continue to unfold, before his life turned into a dramatic downfall from the peak to behind bars.
