Khaberni - Authorities in Los Angeles officially announced the death of Filipino-American TikTok star Eman Atienza, who ended her life inside her home in the city at the age of 19, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.
According to the official report, the incident occurred on October 22, 2025, and documents revealed that her real name was Emmanuel Atienza.
The late young woman had spoken openly and courageously in her social media posts about her long battle with bipolar disorder, suicidal thoughts, and bullying, describing in a previous post her desire to end her life as "treatment-resistant," noting that she had been battling these disorders since she was twelve years old, according to the British newspaper "Mirror".
Atienza gained widespread fame through digital platforms, with over 856,000 followers on TikTok with more than 50 million likes, and over 218,000 followers on Instagram.
She stood out for her honest approach to mental health issues, making her a source of support and inspiration for many of her followers around the world, despite occasionally facing attacks and criticisms for her progressive social and political views in the Philippines.
In a moving statement, her mother Feliciana Atienza said: "Eman made everyone feel seen and heard. We will continue to honor her memory with compassion, courage, and a lot of kindness."
Her father, the well-known Filipino media personality Kim Atienza, also mourned her, affirming that she was brave and sincere in her message, and that her positive impact will remain present in the lives of those who loved her.
Condolence messages poured in from followers and celebrities from around the world, including Filipino actress Andrea Brillantes who described her as "a ray of sunshine," while Sparkle GMA Artist Center expressed their deep sadness, confirming that Eman "will always be a beloved part of the artistic family."
Eman Atienza belonged to a prominent political family in the Philippines, as she was the granddaughter of the former mayor of Manila, Lito Atienza, which added an additional dimension of shock and interest in her home country to the news of her passing.
Eman has left, but her story remains a painful reminder of the value of honesty in confronting psychological pain, and that stardom does not negate the need for human support and containment.
