Khaberni - Syrian artist Sarah Barakah issued an official statement to clarify the circumstances that sparked widespread controversy regarding her statements about Egyptian women, affirming her respect and appreciation for women in both Egypt and Syria alike.
Barakah stated that her speech was taken out of context in a wrong way which led to the distortion of her intent, confirming that she did not mean to insult or incite against any Egyptian woman, as circulated on social media platforms.
The Syrian artist pointed out that the comparison that was raised between Egyptian and Syrian women was distorted, emphasizing that the ability to understand and excel is not related to nationality.
Sarah Barakah said: "Egyptian women are as great as Syrian women, and my reference to some Syrian women excelling in certain situations does not diminish the status of Egyptian women."
She confirmed that the complete video of her interview clarifies the true context of her words and refutes attempts at distortion.
This statement comes at a time when Sarah Barakah is experiencing significant artistic activity after her participation in the series "Ali Clay" with star Ahmed El Awadi, written by Mahmoud Hamdan and directed by Mohamed Abdel Salam.
The work achieved a strong presence in the last Ramadan season, making Sarah Barakah one of the most prominent rising faces in Arab drama, which explains her eagerness to clarify any misunderstandings affecting her relationship with the audience in Egypt.
