Khaberni - The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Al-Qadi, confirmed that the commercial and investment relations between Jordan and Turkey will see significant momentum in the upcoming period through projects and joint initiatives in various fields.
Al-Qadi said during the ministerial meeting of the first session of the Jordanian-Turkish Economic Joint Committee, on Tuesday, that the meeting reflects the depth of the fraternal and historical relations between the two countries under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He added that the relations between Jordan and Turkey have transcended the formal aspect to true partnerships between businessmen and economic institutions, expressing both sides' aspiration for more cooperation based on mutual interests.
Al-Qadi noted the convening of a roundtable on the sidelines of the meetings between the Jordanian and Turkish private sectors to enhance partnerships and exchange investment opportunities, indicating that Jordan can be a gateway for Turkish goods to the markets of the region, while Turkey serves as a major gateway for Jordanian products to Europe, especially with the opening of the Bab al-Hawa border crossing.
He pointed out the agreement to hold a Jordanian-Turkish business forum to promote sustainable communication between the private sector institutions in both countries, praising the Turkish investments in Jordan, which are estimated to be in the billions of dollars and cover multiple sectors.
Al-Qadi confirmed the Jordanian government's commitment, under the directives of His Majesty the King, to provide the necessary support to solidify economic and commercial cooperation with Turkey, pointing out the possibility of building successful partnerships between business communities in both countries in the fields of reconstructing Syria.
He also invited Turkish companies to benefit from the free trade agreements signed by Jordan to enter new markets through investment and joint work, expressing thanks to the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) for its cooperation in implementing joint developmental projects.
The Minister emphasized coordination with relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Transport, to enhance cooperation on infrastructure projects, including the Hejazi railway project, praising Jordan's participation in the meetings of the COMCEC committee and the upcoming Halal Summit to enhance Islamic economic cooperation.
