TikTok Leads to Teachers Dismissal on First Day Due to Controversial Video

Khaberni - In an incident that sparked widespread controversy in American educational circles, a teacher was dismissed from her job at a high school in Mississippi, on her first day of work, after she posted a video on the "TikTok" app that included scenes of her students and comments that were considered inappropriate.

According to the British "New York Post," the substitute teacher Miyata Borders (24 years old) filmed the video inside the classroom at Lake Cormorant School, where she appeared putting her feet on the teacher's desk, speaking about a student in a mocking and unprofessional manner, and featuring scenes of minor students without prior permission from their parents, which sparked a widespread outrage on social media.

Contradicts the values
The newspaper explained that the video also included a scene of a student wearing a red skirt, red shoes and holding wool balls, and Borders commented on the clip saying: "Yes, this is what happens in this place," a statement that many considered inappropriate and not in line with the values of the school environment.

The administration of DeSoto County Schools issued an official statement confirming the immediate termination of Borders' employment, explaining that her behavior was a clear violation of educational regulations that prohibit filming students or publishing any content related to them without written consent from their parents.

The statement said: "Mrs. Borders was informed today that she is no longer eligible to work as a substitute teacher in the district's schools."

The widely circulated video sparked a debate about the boundaries of using social media inside educational institutions, especially with similar incidents in other American schools where teachers were dismissed due to inappropriate online behavior.

The newspaper noted that Mississippi state laws require schools to obtain official permission from parents before filming or publishing any clips that include students, and this made the teacher's behavior a clear violation of privacy and professional ethics rules.

Several commentators considered the incident to reveal a lack of digital awareness among some working in the education sector, while school administrations emphasized the need to train educational staff on responsible handling of digital platforms, to protect students and the image of the educational institution.
