Fake Olive Oil Seized in Hebron and Nablus

Khaberni - Consumer Protection teams of the Ministry of National Economy in the city of Hebron, occupied West Bank, caught a street vendor selling olive oil falsely claimed as this season’s production, whereas it was in fact adulterated.

Ibrahim Al-Qadi, the General Director of the General Directorate for Consumer Protection in the Ministry, stated that the counterfeiter from another province was caught while selling this oil in Hebron. It was discovered after a sensory test that the oil was mixed with other vegetable oils, exploiting the citizens' needs by falsely claiming it to be the season’s produce.

Al-Qadi mentioned that the case file was referred to the Public Prosecution for Economic Crimes to take the necessary legal measures, and investigations are still ongoing with the counterfeiter to uncover the details of the forgery process and to ensure the market is free of this counterfeit oil.

In the city of Nablus, as part of the joint efforts between the National Economy Directorate in Tulkarm and Nablus and in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, a quantity of adulterated olive oil was seized following the necessary laboratory tests at the Agriculture laboratory.

The Ministry indicated in its statement that the case file was transferred to the Public Prosecution for Economic Crimes to take the necessary legal action against it.

The ministry urged citizens to buy oil from reliable sources and to report any complaints through the "Khaberni" portal.
