Beware of Vitamin Deficiencies Affecting the Menstrual Cycle

Khaberni - Many women face menstrual disorders, such as irregularities, delays, or increased pain, without knowing the real reason behind it, which may sometimes be linked to a deficiency of certain essential vitamins and minerals in the body, responsible for hormone balance and reproductive health.
In this context, "El Konsulto" explains the most important vitamins whose lack leads to menstrual disorders, and the best dietary methods to compensate for them, according to Dr. Bahaa Naji, a consultant in therapeutic nutrition.
Vitamins whose deficiency leads to menstrual disorders

Dr. Bahaa Naji explains that there are a group of vitamins that play a direct role in regulating hormones and the menstrual cycle, the most prominent of which are:

1- Vitamin D

Helps regulate the secretion of female hormones such as estrogen and progesterone, and its deficiency can lead to ovulation disorders and irregular menstrual cycles, in addition to increasing the likelihood of developing ovarian cysts.

2- Vitamin B6

Contributes to improved mood and reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety associated with the premenstrual period, as well as helping to balance hormones and reduce menstrual pain.

3- Vitamin E

Acts as an antioxidant, and helps reduce inflammation and cramps associated with menstruation, and can also reduce the severity of bleeding in some cases.

4- Vitamin C

Helps improve iron absorption, reducing the risk of anemia caused by blood loss during menstruation, and contributes to strengthening blood vessels and regulating hormones.

5- Iron and Zinc

Naji confirms that iron deficiency can lead to general weakness, pallor, and delayed menstruation, while zinc is necessary for regulating ovulation and improving ovarian function.
