Arrest of Suspects in Louvre Museum Robbery

Khaberni - The Paris prosecutor said that suspects have been arrested in a case involving the theft of jewelry from the Louvre Museum in Paris.

She added that investigators carried out the arrests last Saturday evening, noting that one of those arrested was preparing to leave the country from Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Earlier, "BFM TV" and "Le Parisien" newspaper reported that two suspects had been arrested and detained. The Paris prosecutor, Laure Beccuau, did not confirm the number of suspects arrested.

The thieves took eight minutes to steal jewelry worth 88 million euros ($102 million), in a heist at the world's most visited museum, which shocked the world.

Beccuau said that investigators from the anti-gang unit carried out the arrests. She expressed regret in her statement about the early leakage of information, stating that it could hinder the efforts of more than 100 investigators "mobilized to recover the stolen jewelry and catch the thieves."
