Washington Sends Aircraft Carrier to South America

Khaberni - The US Department of Defense (Pentagon), on Friday, said that Minister Pete Higgsith ordered the deployment of the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier and its supporting warships to the US Southern Command Area, significantly increasing the number of troops and aircraft in the region located in Latin America.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a post on X platform: "Strengthening the presence of US forces in the Southern Command area will enhance the United States' ability to detect, monitor, and disrupt illegal entities and activities that threaten the integrity and prosperity of the American homeland and our security in the Western Hemisphere."
He did not specify the date when the aircraft carrier will move to the region.

US President Donald Trump, on Thursday, said that his country would soon take ground action against Venezuela.
Trump continued: "It is not true that we sent bombers near Venezuela, and we will soon see action on the ground in Venezuela."
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced on Wednesday that his country possesses 5,000 Russian-made ground-to-air missiles, to counter US military threats.
Washington deployed stealth fighters and navy vessels to the Caribbean, as part of what it describes as efforts to combat drug trafficking, while at least eight boats were destroyed, said to be smuggling drugs from Venezuela to the United States.
