Jordan Why are the nights in East Amman colder than its western peaks these days

Khaberni - Recently, relatively cold weather prevails at night, and minimum temperatures in the mountains reach about 12-14 degrees Celsius, while it is colder in the eastern plains and valleys, including East Amman.
Why are plains and valleys colder than mountains?

‫Weather specialists at the Arab Weather Center said that valleys and plains cool more than mountains under certain conditions, especially on clear, calm nights, due to a phenomenon known as "temperature inversion".‬

This is a meteorological phenomenon where the temperature increases with altitude contrary to the norm, where the air near the ground becomes colder than the air above, leading to the trapping of cold air in the valleys and plains.
Why does temperature inversion occur in the eastern plains?

On clear nights, the ground cools rapidly due to the release of heat into the atmosphere, and the air above the mountain peaks cools and becomes denser. Due to its high density, it begins to slide down the slopes of the mountains and hills.

This cold air continues to flow and accumulate in the plains and valleys, thus making the valleys and plains colder than the mountains.
