Khaberni - The Egyptian Dar al-Ifta has confirmed that it is not permissible for a wife to donate valuable items from her husband's money without his explicit permission, noting that it is not permissible to handle valuable money without the husband's knowledge or clear consent.
The Egyptian Dar al-Ifta, via its official Facebook page, explained that it is permissible for a wife to donate a small amount that is customarily known to be approved by the husband and generally satisfies him, if it is of a type that most people do not mind giving away or donating.
It added that if customs are unclear or it is known that the husband does not approve of donating from his money, it is not permissible for the wife to donate any of his funds without his explicit permission.
The Dar al-Ifta reaffirmed that the standard in this case is the general custom and the husband’s approval, pointing out that Islam calls for respecting financial rights between spouses, and that good cohabitation does not mean encroaching on the other party's money without permission.
