Khaberni - Raghad Saddam Hussein, daughter of the late Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, expressed her welcome to the Lebanese judicial decision to release Hannibal Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Gaddafi's son was accused of withholding information in the case of the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr, and Raghad considered this step a positive start towards "reunification" and "the beginning of a new chapter" for Libya and its people.
Raghad said in a post on her official account on the platform "X": "Thank God for the safety of the dear brother Hannibal Gaddafi, and we ask God for his complete return to his land and country soon, to be an opening of good and blessing for him and his honorable family, and the beginning of a new chapter that brings reunification and good for Libya and its kind people."

Raghad's statements came after the announcement by the Lebanese National News Agency that the judicial investigator in the case of the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr, Judge Zaher Hamadeh, decided to release Hannibal Gaddafi in exchange for a financial bail of 11 million Lebanese pounds (about 7300 US dollars), and prevented him from leaving Lebanese territory until the final decision in the case.
The defense team for Gaddafi had submitted an official request to release him last August, based on his long detention conditions since his arrest in 2015, with no final judgment issued against him yet.
Hannibal Gaddafi faces charges related to "withholding information" about the fate of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his companions, who disappeared during a visit to Tripoli in 1978 at the invitation of his father Muammar Gaddafi. The case is one of the most complicated files between Lebanon and Libya, amid historic accusations of the former Libyan regime's involvement in their disappearance.
Since his detention, several human rights and diplomatic entities have submitted requests for the release of Gaddafi, considering the continuation of his detention without judicial judgment a violation of legal procedures.
