Khaberni - Dr. Hayel and Du'ran Al-Dajah commented on the unfortunate events at Jordan University, saying: "The reputation of 'The Mother of Universities' and its prestigious, longstanding scientific standing are preserved, and will neither be tarnished nor shaken by irresponsible, individual childish behavior. These are not the first instances of such behavior, yet the university has soared high into the realms of academic stardom, entering the world of scientific tradition through the widest gates, achieving something akin to a scientific miracle. It secured a place among the elite, becoming one of the top five hundred universities in the world according to the QS World University Rankings, reaching rank 368 in the year 2025 for the first time in Jordanian university history.
As of yesterday, according to the 2026 QS Arab Rankings, it ranked first among Jordanian universities, and among the top ten universities in the Arab world.
Response from Professor Doctor Nadhir Obaidat, President of Jordan University:
"Jordan University has 51,000 students, and those involved in these misconducts are but a few who do not represent the university or its students.
All these brawls are unrelated to the university, its programs, or its management, but are a product of a social condition in our country. All these brawls start for petty reasons that might arise from a trivial disagreement between two people, which then escalates into a tribal or regional issue. Even those who come to participate originally appear ordinary, but when they hear the call of their tribe or region, they forget all other considerations.
They come to the university with this mindset, and it may take them two years or more in the university environment to change, though some may never change.
God willing, Jordan University is moving steadily forward. Every day, students of the university achieve global awards and successes that the world recognizes but no one pays attention to, unfortunately, unless it's a trivial brawl, which then gets exaggerated by all media outlets reflecting badly on the whole university.
Has our media noticed that 30% of the graduates from the medical school have secured positions for specialization and work in the United States alone, ranking it first among medical schools worldwide in terms of the ratio of accepted students to graduates?
Every week, students and researchers receive the highest awards at both the global and Arab levels."
