Foreign Minister meets his Syrian counterpart in Amman today

Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, meets with the Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Al-Shibani, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in the capital Amman, this afternoon.

Safadi had received a phone call from Minister Shibani on the 25th of last month, during which the ministers renewed their condemnation of the unjustified Iranian attacks on Jordan and the territories of the brotherly Arabian Gulf states.

Safadi and Shibani discussed the serious escalation in the region and its implications for regional and international security and stability, and ways of restoring calm through activating diplomacy to ensure the security and stability of the region and respect for the sovereignty of states.

The ministers stressed the need to activate joint Arab action to face common challenges and protect Arab national security.

Safadi also condemned the Israeli attack that targeted military infrastructure in southern Syria, considering it a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a breach of international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement between Syria and Israel.

Safadi affirmed Jordan's steadfast position in supporting the Syrian government in its efforts to protect Syria's security, stability, sovereignty, maintain its territorial integrity, and ensure the safety of its citizens.
