France and Britain making final touches at the United Nations on plans to deploy forces to Gaza

Khaberni - France said on Thursday that it is working closely with Britain and coordinating with the United States to finalize a resolution for the UN Security Council in the coming days, which would lay the groundwork for deploying an international force in Gaza.

Two senior American advisors said on Wednesday that with the ceasefire in Gaza, which was brokered by the United States between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), planning has begun to deploy an international force to restore security in the Palestinian sector.

Speaking to journalists in Paris, French Foreign Ministry spokesman Pascal Confavreux said that such a force would need a mandate from the United Nations to provide a strong foundation in international law and facilitate obtaining potential contributions from countries.

He added: "France is working closely with its partners to establish such an international mission, which must be formalized through the adoption of a resolution by the Security Council."
