In a shocking incident, a Jordanian citizen sold his kidney to an Arab ambassador residing in Asian countries for $17,000.
In the details accessed by "Khaberni", the husband sold his kidney without informing his wife, who only discovered the details of the sale for $17,000 when she filed an official complaint against him at the Bader Wadi As-Sir security center in Amman’s capital.
The story dates back to February 2020, when the citizen (S.Z.) along with her husband went to have his intestinal cancer treated, and upon their arrival from the airport to the hotel, she was shocked to learn that her husband had traveled to sell his kidney for $17,000 to an Arab ambassador residing in an Asian country. The operation was successful.
However, the story does not end there. The husband had an inhumane plan involving deceiving his wife to sell her kidney as well. While the couple was in Turkey, the husband was corresponding with someone through his Facebook account, telling them that he would convince his wife to sell her kidney for $15,000, leading her to file a complaint against him immediately,” according to the wife’s testimony in court.
Article 10 of the Human Body Organs Utilization Law stipulates that anyone who violates its provisions shall be "punished with imprisonment for no less than one year or a fine of no less than ten thousand dinars or with both penalties”. Despite this, the wife waived her personal right, prompting the court to decide on “reducing the penalty, making it three months of imprisonment and the fees”.
