Khaberni – Exclusive
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam confirmed that he has no relation to the dispute between the Modern Arab Business Company (Saudi nationality), and the Jordanian investor Raed Mohammad Mahmoud Mahmoud, despite Salam receiving a judicial notice from the Jordanian investor.
His lawyer Captain Rashid Darbas – to Khaberni – clarified that President Salam was not aware of the arbitration ruling until it was brought to his attention through the judicial notice, as he does not engage in trade and is not a partner with his brother, and has never been involved in business or finance.
Darbas affirmed that the dispute between the Jordanian Raed Mahmoud and the Arab Business Company began in 2023 at the arbitration court, while the verdict was issued on August 15 of this year, meaning that the claimed right was recently established, which negates any suspicion of money laundering attributed to President Salam during his tenure from 2014 to 2016, while the dispute arose later.
Jordanian businessman Raed Mohammad Mahmoud had sent, through a notary in Lebanon, a judicial warning against former Prime Minister Tammam Salam on charges (fraud and money laundering with the intent of damaging the creditors), after transferring millions of dollars from the Arab Business Company to accounts in Switzerland and Lebanon, according to the notification.
According to the notification, Tammam Salam received money during his government from the company based in Saudi Arabia owned by his brother who is evading the enforcement of an international arbitration ruling.
