Khaberni - Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, on Wednesday, on the parliamentary elections that were held earlier this month.
Putin stated that these elections were a great success and will strengthen relationships between all political forces in Syria.
He expressed Russia's readiness to engage with Syria through their foreign ministries.
Putin reaffirmed Moscow's readiness to enhance relations with Damascus, adding that "the interests of the Syrian people always drive us".
He noted that Russian-Syrian relations are relations of friendship and that Russia has no relations conditioned by the political situation or narrow interests but are linked to mutual interests and the interest of the Syrian people.
Putin emphasized that his country maintains close relations with the Syrian people and aims to develop relations with Damascus, indicating that the joint governmental committee between Russia and Syria will resume its work.
For his part, al-Sharaa said: "In the new Syria, we are re-establishing relations with all regional and global countries, and there are bilateral relations and common interests that bind us with Russia and we respect all agreements with it."
He confirmed that Syria is committed to all previous agreements, and that his country has close relationships with Russia and a significant part of the energy sector in Syria relies on Russian expertise.
