Khaberni - Deputy Mu'ataz Abu Rumman called for the enactment of legislative text that obliges the dispensation of financial compensation amounting to (5000) dinars for anyone who is exposed to a bite from a stray dog in Jordan.
After the parliamentary-governmental meeting held on Tuesday to discuss the problem of stray dogs, Abu Rumman in a special statement to the Khaberni site, said that this proposal comes in light of the increasing incidents of stray dog attacks on citizens in various provinces, causing repeated injuries and human and material losses, indicating that the time has come for fair legislation to protect citizens and compensate the affected parties.
He explained that the compensation should be dispensed after considering the nature of the injury and its severity, through a judicial decision that formally proves the damage, ensuring justice and fairness and preventing exploitation.
Abu Rumman emphasized that the goal of the proposal is to oblige the relevant authorities to take responsibility for this phenomenon, pointing out that the financial compensation will serve as an indirect deterrent to the authorities that lag in combating stray dogs, and a motivator to accelerate field procedures to reduce their spread.
He stressed the importance of maintaining environmental balance and not disposing of the dogs in a bloody way, by pursuing humane and regulatory solutions that ensure the protection of both humans and animals at the same time, emphasizing that the state's priority remains the health and safety of its citizens.
Abu Rumman mentioned that at the conclusion of the parliamentary-governmental meeting, it was proposed to form a national committee that includes representatives from relevant government agencies, municipalities, environmental and veterinary associations, aimed at developing an integrated plan to scientifically, humanely, and balancedly address the stray dog issue
