Khaberni - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Israel on Friday against resuming war, saying that the cost of returning to genocide in Gaza would be very high.
Erdogan said, "We received good news from Egypt that delighted us all, the reaching of an agreement in the talks between Hamas and the Israeli government," according to the Turkish news agency, last Friday.
He added, "For the first time in two years, smiles were seen on the faces of the people in Gaza; people took to the streets in joy, as we were delighted by the joy of our Palestinian brothers, and the smiles of Gaza's children warmed our hearts." He continued, "We are very pleased that Gaza will regain its health after two years of oppression. We have been one of the countries that have made the greatest contribution to this process from the first day."
Erdogan mentioned that halting the bloodshed in Gaza topped the agenda of his meetings in New York and Washington. He said, "We conducted comprehensive talks with Hamas, and met with brotherly countries in the region, especially Qatar and Egypt. In other words, we did everything in our power to restore peace, calm, and security in Gaza as soon as possible." He explained that "what matters to us is the precise implementation of the agreement. We will expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid from our ships docked at the port of Al-Arish in Egypt to Gaza before the winter sets in."
Erdogan pointed out that Ankara realizes Israel's poor record in keeping promises, saying, "They have broken their promises with frivolous excuses, and unfortunately, they have betrayed the agreements they have signed." He continued, "We are working to ensure that the necessary measures are taken to prevent them from repeating the same approach. After two years of severe bombing, there is immense destruction and rubble in Gaza... We will fulfill our responsibilities in removing this destruction and reconstructing Gaza." He concluded, "I would like to emphasize that the price of returning to an atmosphere of genocide will be very high. Our region, especially Gaza, has been drenched in blood, massacres, and tears, and peace must be given a chance, avoiding acts of sabotage."
