Ecuadorian President Survives Assassination Attempt

Khaberni - Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa survived a gunfire incident targeting his convoy on Tuesday, as reported by Environment Minister Inas Manzano, following attempts by hundreds of protesters angry over fuel price increases to attack the convoy.

Minister Manzano said that about 500 people appeared in front of the main convoy and began pelting it with stones, and there were bullet marks on the president's car.

She added, "Thank God our president is very strong and brave and continues to move forward and follow his schedule as usual."

The government broadcast a video clip that it said was filmed from inside the convoy, showing demonstrators wrapped in flags scrambling to collect stones and bricks to throw at the president's car.

The video captures voices shouting "Cover your head! Cover your head!" as projectiles hit the SUV, shattering at least one window.

Ecuador, located in South America, has been facing protests, sometimes violent, in recent days in response to the government's decision to raise diesel prices.

The government accused drug smuggling gangs vying for control over cocaine trade routes as being behind these riots.
