Netanyahu Approves Return to InPerson Education

Khaberni - Israeli occupation government head, Benjamin Netanyahu, has approved a plan for the return to in-person education in small groups proposed by the Education Minister, Yoav Kisch, and the Home Front Command, with implementation to begin next Sunday, subject to a final security assessment issued after the Jewish Passover holiday.

This approval comes after the Home Front Command had recommended increasing gatherings from 50 to 100 people, and a gradual return to education throughout the country under varying restrictions, where education in cities classified as "orange" would only be inside fortified locations, including Tel Aviv, Be'er Sheva, Dimona, and Kafr Qasem, while education in areas classified as "yellow" would be adjacent to safe places.

As part of the plan, the Home Front Command proposed that education in towns classified as “orange” should be limited to fortified places only, whereas Netanyahu rejected the proposal of the Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, which called for declaring a holiday and postponing school days to be compensated during the summer vacation.

In a statement issued by the office of the Education Minister, Kisch, it was stated that he welcomes the government head’s adoption of his stance on operating the education system after the Passover holiday. The statement mentioned that Kisch presented a “viable, professional, responsible, gradual, and secure” plan for the return to school.

It was noted that this plan “was formulated in cooperation with the Home Front Command and with the approval of local and regional governance and parental leadership at the national level.”
