Khaberni - The Public Health and Safety Committee in Irbid Governorate carried out an inspection campaign on butcheries and livestock pens on Hawara road today, Monday.
Irbid Governor Radwan Al-Atoum stated that the campaign issued warnings to 11 butcheries for not complying with public health and safety standards, and destroyed quantities of spoiled meat.
He emphasized that the administrative authority will continue monitoring the butcheries with daily morning and evening rounds to maintain public cleanliness and civil appearance, and to reduce odors and health nuisances, urging butchery owners to comply with the regulations to avoid legal accountability.
Al-Atoum stressed that safeguarding the citizens' health is a top priority, and there will be no tolerance for any violations concerning public health and the environment.
On his part, the Director of Health Affairs in Greater Irbid Municipality, Engineer Yahya Al-Omari, explained that the campaign was initiated after butchery owners were given a deadline to rectify their situations, noting that about 35 kilograms of frozen meat, which was being thawed and sold as fresh, were destroyed.
