Jordan Continuing to allocate halfprice land plots for teachers

Khaberni - The Minister of Education, Azmi Governorate, said today, Sunday: "Today we stand in loyalty and appreciation for all the female and male teachers who have devoted themselves to building humanity, instilling values, and formulating supreme ideals in this beloved homeland," recommitting to remain faithful to the teacher’s mission, supporting their journey for an education befitting our country under the leadership of the first teacher, His Majesty King Abdullah II.

During his speech at the annual honoring ceremony for teachers held by the Ministry of Education on the occasion of World Teacher’s Day, Governorate mentioned that in order to return even a small part of our female and male teachers' immense value and contributions, which can't be denied by anyone, the government, with direct support and guidance from the Prime Minister, initiated a series of measures benefiting teachers, including continuing to allocate land plots at half the price in various regions of the kingdom.

He added that the government has disbursed emergency loans to all who applied, doubled the percentage of the Royal grant for teachers' children in higher education institutions from five percent to ten percent starting this academic year, and will also allocate five percent of the total grants and loans provided by the Student Support Fund to the teachers' children in universities. Additionally, the number of pilgrimage scholarships allocated to the Ministry of Education increased from sixty to one hundred and twenty.

He mentioned that work will be done on maintaining teachers' clubs, improving their services, and building teachers' clubs in provinces where they do not exist.

Also, Governorate emphasized that the ministry, believing in the pivotal role of the teacher, has placed them at the heart of educational policies: training, qualification, support, empowerment, motivation, and appreciation, highlighting that teacher training has been a top priority before and during service, alongside curriculum development and creating a suitable school environment through the expansion of school buildings and class additions to bring a qualitative shift in the education sector in Jordan in the coming years, reflecting a clear vision towards comprehensive and sustainable educational development.

He also noted that the ministry has expanded programs for kindergartens as early childhood is the real beginning of any effective education, in addition to achieving tangible steps in the field of inclusive education.

Regarding evaluation, Governorate clarified that the General Secondary Examination underwent comprehensive development reflecting the shift towards measuring skills and promoting a deeper and more life-connected education.

In response to labor market needs, there has been an expansion in vocational and technical education specializations, not only to bridge gaps but to create promising opportunities for our children, empowering them with skills that qualify them for a more competitive and innovative future.

He added that the teacher remains at the core of the educational process and the compass for change, and the leader of educational reform in a world where knowledge accelerates, educational concepts shift from rote learning to innovation, from memorization to critical thinking and problem-solving, and from traditional classrooms to open digital learning spaces.

In conclusion of his speech, Governorate addressed the working female and male teachers, stating they are the role models, present in people’s hearts and the true guardians of the future, and it is our duty to preserve their dignity and elevate their status not just with words but with actions.

He also acknowledged retired teachers who have devoted their lives to serving generations, silently sowed goodness, and left indelible lines of light in the homeland.

The ceremony, held at the Royal Cultural Center in the presence of a number of ministers, educational officials, and members of the educational family, featured artistic events celebrating World Teacher’s Day, including a video titled "Window of Giving" reflecting a real story of the positive impact that teachers have on students' lives, and a song "My Teacher, the Master of Light."
