Khaberni - The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Al-Summan, on Wednesday, inspected numerous vital road projects in the provinces of Madaba and Al-Karak, affirming the ministry's commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the level of services provided to citizens within a comprehensive developmental vision.

In the province of Madaba, the minister reviewed the progress of the Royal Road expansion project, stretching from the American University signal to the American University triangle, with a length of 4 kilometers. The project aims to widen the road by an average of 5 meters to reach a total width of 15.5 meters, contributing to enhancing traffic safety and improving traffic flow.

The Madaba Public Works Directorate executed various fieldwork, which included removing obstacles such as trees, cables, communication poles, electricity poles, and water lines, in addition to moving some light poles that obstruct the path of the expansion. Excavation and compacting work for three layers (Topping, Sub-base, and Base course) were carried out, alongside implementing a rainwater drainage line in preparation for asphalt paving activities in the upcoming days.

The completion percentage of the compaction and paving works reached 95%, where Abu Al-Summan directed the necessity of completing all remaining works in this phase by next Sunday at the latest.

In the province of Al-Karak, the Minister of Public Works inspected the progress of work on the expansion, improvement, and rehabilitation of the Muha – Al-Abiad road, which is one of the vital roads that connect Al-Karak to the Desert Highway, and alleviates pressure from the Al-Karak – Qatrana road.

Abu Al-Summan confirmed that the project was a response to the repeated demands of the residents, after conducting the necessary technical, surveying, and traffic studies, pointing out that the road was in a poor condition and consistently a source of complaints from the citizens.

The project, financed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development with a loan of approximately 5 million dinars, includes the reconstruction of the road for a length of 15 kilometers, and its expansion to a width of 12 meters, in addition to implementing rainwater drainage works using box and pipe culverts, and protection works for the slopes along the road.

The works also include implementing new layers of paving using high-quality asphalt mixes, along with all necessary traffic safety requirements such as barriers, speed bumps, striping, reflectors, and informative and warning signs.

The project's completion percentage reached 47%, where Abu Al-Summan emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of work, taking into consideration the approaching rainy season.

He also stressed the importance of taking the necessary contractual measures with the contractor to address any delays and rectify shortcomings in execution.
