Khaberni - In a bizarre incident akin to fantasy stories, the city of Aldearitas (northern Argentina) witnessed a shocking event when a young man (22 years old) appeared alive during his funeral, after his death had mistakenly been announced.
The story goes back to a horrific traffic accident, when a truck loaded with sugarcane hit a young man in one of the neighborhoods of Aldearitas. Initially, the police assumed suicide, while the public prosecutor classified the incident as involuntary manslaughter and ordered an autopsy. The following day, a woman identified the body at the morgue, confirming it was her son based on his features and clothes, and was actually handed over to her for burial.
However, the biggest surprise occurred during the funeral ceremony, when the real son appeared, staggering among the attendees, looking as if he had just woken up from a coma that lasted several days. His unexpected return caused shock and astonishment among the mourners, who questioned the identity of the body inside the coffin.
In his statement, the young man explained that he was heavily intoxicated throughout that period in Aldearitas neighborhood north of Córdoba, and knew nothing about his alleged death.
Later, the police revealed that the body mistakenly buried actually belonged to another young man named Maximiliano Enrique Acosta (28 years old) from the nearby town of Delfin Gallo, and was returned to his family to be rightfully buried again. However, the victim's relatives expressed their intense anger over the serious mistakes made, and his brother Hernan said, "Everything was wrong from the beginning; they handed over the body without verifying the identity, then they made me go to the morgue twice. We should not have had to go through all of this."
The Public Prosecutor's Office has opened a comprehensive investigation into the incident to determine responsibilities and the procedures to be followed in such cases.
