Khaberni - Emergency teams in Fujian province, southeastern China, rescued a 48-year-old woman after she spent more than two days trapped in an old well, amid extreme conditions including darkness, mosquito bites, and water snakes.
The incident occurred when the woman, named "Qin," was hiking in the forest and fell into the well, which was designed narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, preventing her from climbing the wall and getting out, according to "South China".
After her family reported her missing, the search operations began and continued until September 15, when a rescue team equipped with a thermal drone located her through a "faint" cry for help, finding her trapped inside the well clinging to stones.
The woman later related that she used a protruding stone to stabilize her body, then pried other stones to create temporary footholds, maintaining that position for 54 continuous hours despite exhaustion and a non-venomous water snake bite.
The woman was transported to the hospital, where she was found to have two broken ribs and a partial lung collapse, in addition to severe hand injuries, with doctors confirming that her condition is stable and she will recover soon.
