Khaberni - Today, Sunday, several members of the general body of the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate, who competed for the Hussein Journalism Award in the category of (journalistic reporting and news story), submitted an official complaint to the syndicate, calling for an urgent convening of the award committee to reconsider the award in this category after a journalistic investigation won it, not a report, although it is designated for reports and there is a separate category specifically for competing on journalistic investigations.
The colleagues expressed their surprise that a journalistic investigation was announced as the winner in a category not its own, and deprived the other 22 applying colleagues of their right to compete in this category.
They threatened to resort to the Administrative Court for justice if the syndicate does not take the necessary measures to ensure the transparency and integrity of the award, emphasizing the necessity to adhere to the clear and announced instructions of the award and not to exceed them under any reason or circumstance.
They indicated that the winning entry is published as a journalistic investigation in one of the newspapers in cooperation with ARIJ network, and that its text explicitly and repeatedly mentioned that it is a journalistic investigation.
