Khaberni - A former Italian model, one of the first women to accuse Jeffrey Epstein of sexual misconduct, has mysteriously disappeared in New York.
Nothing has been heard about Elizabeta Tai Verito, originally from Montagnana in northern Italy, since April 22 after her return to the United States.
Verito, who has been living in New York since 2001, traveled to Italy in early April to visit her parents and brother.
However, after her return to Manhattan, her daily contact with her family suddenly ceased, according to "The Daily Mail."
Close associates of the former model said she does not respond to phone calls, and it seems that her social media accounts have been disabled or deleted.
Her family reported her disappearance to the prosecutors in Rovigo, Italy, who opened a case because she is an Italian citizen abroad.
The case was also referred to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which in turn activated diplomatic channels with the American authorities.
Despite an investigation by the American authorities into her disappearance, she has not been found yet.
Verito's Italian family confirmed that she kept in regular contact with them until the day she disappeared.
Verito worked in the fashion industry after moving to the United States and later shifted to the real estate sector in New York.
Her name came into the public in 2019 when she spoke about an alleged meeting with Epstein that she said happened in 2004.
Verito said she was introduced to Epstein through her agent in the fashion world after being told that he could help her work with major brands.
Her business agent suggested she meet a man who "would change her life," allowing her to start modeling for the famous "Victoria's Secret" brand.
That man was none other than Epstein himself, who was a trusted friend and financial advisor to Leslie Wexner, owner of the Victoria's Secret company.
She added that she went to what she believed would be a professional meeting or audition at Epstein's home on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
But Verito later told investigators and the media that she was greeted at the New York mansion by Epstein's partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, and was led to his office.
There, she claimed that Jeffrey Epstein - who mysteriously died in his prison in 2019 after being convicted of sexual crimes - did not look at her portfolio or resume, and instead disrobed and lay down on the massage table.
Verito's family confirmed that it was uncharacteristic of her to stop communicating with them.
Despite the investigations into her disappearance, no information or reasons about Verito's disappearance have emerged yet, nor has she appeared herself.
