Benfica thwarts Real Madrids attempts to snatch Jose Mourinho

Khaberni  - Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, is in a state of anxiety, which always drives him to search for a man he trusts in his ability to disrupt the stability of competitors and restore balance at any cost.

Perez believes that the solution lies in bringing back Jose Mourinho to regain control, but the situation is completely different this time.

According to "O Jogo" of Portugal, Benfica is not ready to let go of Jose Mourinho easily and has begun taking steps to ensure his stay at the club.

Benfica plans to offer Jose Mourinho a new contract that will extend beyond his current one, which ends in 2027.

The new contract for Jose Mourinho with Benfica could last until 2028 or 2029, emphasizing the Portuguese club's appreciation for their veteran coach who has become a focus of interest for Real Madrid.

Benfica acknowledges Real Madrid's increasing interest and desires to act early to ensure Mourinho's stay, with Rui Costa, the president of the club, holding talks with him this week to focus on preparations for the upcoming season.

It is worth mentioning that there is a clause in Jose Mourinho's current contract that allows him to leave for 3 million euros, but only during a brief period of 10 days just after the season ends.

Once this period expires, any club wishing to sign Jose Mourinho must negotiate directly with Benfica, and a much higher fee will likely be required.

Real Madrid is heading towards a disappointing season by all measures, having been eliminated early in the King's Cup by Albacete and exiting the UEFA Champions League against Bayern Munich after losing in the quarterfinals (6-4) in the aggregate of the home and away matches.

In La Liga, the team led by Frenchman Kylian Mbappe ranks second with 74 points, a full 11 points behind the leader and reigning champion, Barcelona, with 5 rounds left in the race.
