Khaberni - In order to accelerate the submission of income tax returns for the year 2025 and the payment of the declared tax therein before completing the declaration of financial statements from public authorities, the General Director of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Dr. Hussam Abu Ali, decided to extend the deadline for replacing the preliminary final financial statements with the actual ones for the fiscal year 2025 to become until the date of 24/5/2026, provided that the tax return is submitted properly during the legal period and accompanied by a draft of the preliminary final financial statements.
The Income and Sales Tax Department confirmed that this extension was to enable auditors and tax experts to complete all procedures and requirements necessary for their proper submission. It is limited only to the submission of the audited financial statements of companies, due to the public bodies of companies not completing their meetings and the authentication of the final financial statements properly.
The extension does not include the legal deadline for submitting income tax returns and preliminary financial statements, reiterating that there is no extension of the period for filing income tax returns and paying the due tax before the end of April 30, which is specified by law.
The department urged taxpayers to initiate the submission of income tax returns accompanied by preliminary financial statements electronically before the end of the specified legal period, to avoid legal violations and the penalties stipulated by law.
The department clarified that penalties include imposing an added tax for not submitting the tax return, in addition to a delay penalty at the rate of (0.4%) of the value of the tax amounts due for each week of delay or any part thereof.
The department emphasized its commitment to enabling taxpayers and auditors to fulfill their obligations within legal frameworks, urging the use of available electronic services to submit returns and preliminary financial statements and to pay obligations easily and conveniently before April 30, the final legal deadline for submitting income tax returns for the fiscal year 2025.
