Netanyahu cancels public event due to fear of Hezbollah

Khaberni - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the downscaling of the commemoration of Rabbi Shimon Yochai in the town of Meron, northern Israel, to be held symbolically this year instead of the usual extensive celebrations.
This decision, according to the content of directives, comes amid security assessments indicating high risks associated with the tense security situation on the northern front with Hezbollah.

According to reports, the rationale behind the decision stems from fears of significant human losses should large gatherings be allowed, due to the fragile ceasefire with Lebanon, the proximity of the event location to the border, and ongoing intermittent rocket fire on the area.

Sources also mentioned the difficulties of executing large and rapid evacuation operations in the event of any bombing by Hezbollah, prompting official entities to adopt a limited celebration format to minimize risks as much as possible.

The Israeli Home Front Command has implemented new restrictions on gatherings in several Upper Galilee towns, following a security assessment of the field conditions after an escalation of rocket attacks and drone launches from southern Lebanon towards northern Israel. Under the new directives, the size of gatherings in frontline areas and nearby towns, including Meron, Bar Yochai, Or Haganuz, and Safsufa, has been restricted.
