Khaberni - Atlético Madrid announced on Sunday the absence of its midfielder Pablo Barrios from facing its guest Arsenal this coming Wednesday in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals due to a thigh injury.
Atlético said in a statement: "Barrios suffered a muscle injury in his left thigh, which occurred during the match against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday in the league."
Atlético, who lost in the final of the Copa del Rey against Real Sociedad, did not specify the expected duration of his absence.
Spanish media outlets reported that the injury will sideline the 22-year-old player for a month, in a blow to the team managed by Argentine Diego Simeone ahead of the Arsenal match at the Metropolitano Stadium.
The Champions League represents Atlético's last hope to win a title this season after the loss in the Copa del Rey final last weekend, and falling behind in the league race.
