Khaberni - The Senate approved in its session held on Wednesday, chaired by the president of the council, Faisal Al-Fayez, and attended by the Prime Minister, Jafar Hassan, and the Cabinet, 6 bills as received from the House of Representatives.
The council, in its last session of the second ordinary session, approved bill projects on: Education, Human Resources Development, Gas, Civil Status, and Traffic laws, in addition to two agreements on developing copper in the "Abu Khshibah" area, and a concessional loan with Italy.
The Senate recommended adding the director of the National Center for Human Resources Development and a representative from the International Relief Agency to the membership of the Council of Education and Human Resources Development, as part of the experienced and specialized individuals specified in the bill.
The newly established council, according to the law, will be chaired by the Prime Minister and will include ministers of: Education, Awqaf, Labor, Culture, and Digital Economy, in addition to the president of the Supreme Council for Curriculum Development, the head of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Agency and two secretaries-general of the Ministry of Education named by the minister, the secretary-general of the Supreme Council for the rights of People with Disabilities, the secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Science and Technology, the director of Military Education and Culture, the president of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, and five experienced and specialized persons named by the Minister of Education, with their membership lasting four years, renewable once.
The Gas Law project aims to enhance the security of gas supply, regulate sector activities, and create an attractive investment environment, while the Civil Status Law project enhances the digital transformation in government services through the adoption of verified digital identity and registration of digital postal addresses for citizens, enabling their use in judicial, administrative, and financial notifications issued by official authorities.
Also, amendments in the Traffic Law permit the use of communication and electronic signatures in transactions to streamline and expedite procedures, in addition to addressing the situations of impounded vehicles that cannot be sold at public auction.
The agreement on the development and exploitation of copper and associated minerals in the "Abu Khshibah" area aims to support investment in the mining sector and natural resources and the development of local communities, while the agreement with Italy stipulates financing the state treasury with a concessional loan amounting to 50 million euros.
