Khaberni - The city of Aqaba recorded a hotel occupancy rate of 70 percent during the extended weekend from April 16 to 18, clearly indicating the rising demand for tourism and enhancing the city's status as a main destination at the national level.
The Commissioner for Tourism and Youth Affairs at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, Dr. Thabet Hassan Al-Nablusi, stated that five-star hotels led the occupancy rates with 83 percent, followed by four-star hotels at 70 percent, while three-star hotels recorded 55 percent.
Al-Nablusi explained that this distribution reflects the diversity of the tourist product in Aqaba and its capacity to accommodate various segments of visitors, noting that these levels contribute to stimulating economic activity, especially in sectors related to tourism, primarily the hotel and service sectors.
He added that occupancy rates remain subject to change according to last-minute bookings, pointing out that their stability at these levels reflects the visitors' confidence in the quality of tourism services and infrastructure in the city, in addition to the diversity of features that combine beach, recreational, and environmental tourism
