International Report Gaza Reconstruction and Recovery to Cost 71 Billion

Khaberni - A report issued today by the United Nations and the European Union indicates that the cost of recovery and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip is estimated at about $71.4 billion due to the extensive destruction caused by the Israeli aggression on the sector since October 2023.
The United Nations and the European Union stated in a joint statement today, conveyed by the United Nations News Centre, that the needs for recovery and reconstruction in Gaza are estimated at about $71.4 billion over the next decade, including $26.3 billion required in the first 18 months to restore basic services, rebuild vital infrastructure, and support economic recovery.
The statement explained that the rapid final assessment of damage and needs in the sector, conducted in collaboration with the World Bank, estimated physical damages to the infrastructure in the sector at about $35.2 billion, while economic and social losses amounted to $22.7 billion.
It pointed to the catastrophic impact on human development in Gaza, which is estimated to have regressed by 77 years, noting that more than 60 percent of the population has lost their homes, highlighting that women, children, people with disabilities, and the most vulnerable groups bear the brunt.
