Jordan 74000 marriage cases versus 23705 divorce cases in 2025

Khaberni - The Director General of the Civil Status and Passports Department, Gaith Al-Tayeb, said on Monday that the number of marriage incidents in 2025 reached 74,034 cases, against 23,705 divorce cases.

Al-Tayeb added via "Al-Mamlaka" that 179,666 birth incidents and 31,015 death cases were registered, noting that these figures pertain to Jordanian nationals holding a national number.

He explained that the number of Jordanian citizens had reached about 8,905,574 citizens by the end of last year, confirming that the department also provides its services to non-Jordanians, including documenting marriage, birth, death, and divorce incidents, to facilitate their transactions in their countries.

He mentioned that the Civil Status and Passports Department has made significant progress in the electronic archiving project of documents, where about 85 million documents have been archived so far, while about 70 million documents are still being processed.

Al-Tayeb clarified that the department had completely stopped manual registration since 2002, shifting all transactions to the electronic system, which has contributed to speeding up procedures and eliminating geographical restrictions that required citizens to review specific sites to complete their transactions.

He added that electronic archiving has ended the suffering of traditional file searching, where it is now possible to access any document within a few minutes, compared to the lengthy periods previously required by the process.
