Agency Iranian President Insists on His Countrys Nuclear Rights

Khaberni - The Student News Agency reported Iranian President Masoud Bazshkian saying on Sunday that US President Donald Trump has no justification for depriving Iran of its nuclear rights, amid ongoing disagreements between Washington and Tehran concerning the nuclear dossier.

It was reported from Bazshkian that "Trump says Iran cannot exercise its nuclear rights, but he does not specify why. Who is he to deprive a nation of its rights?"

The Strait of Hormuz remained closed on Sunday, as the dispute between Iran and the United States continued, while the influential Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, stated that reaching a final peace agreement is still "far off" despite some progress in negotiations.

While mediation efforts continue following high-level talks in Islamabad that yielded no agreement, Iran affirmed that it will not allow reopening of the strategic maritime passage unless the United States lifts the blockade it imposes on its ports.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard warned that any attempt to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without permission "will be considered cooperation with the enemy, and the violating ship will be targeted."

In addition to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, a major sticking point in the talks remains Iran's stockpile of uranium enriched to a level close to the 90% required to make a nuclear bomb.
