Iran Progress in negotiations with Washington amid ongoing disputes over nuclear issues and the Strait of Hormuz

Khaberni - The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that his country has made progress in negotiations with the United States, however, he acknowledged that there are still "major differences" between the two parties.

Ghalibaf added in remarks to the official television that some achievements have been reached in certain files, while significant differences remain in other issues, emphasizing that the negotiation process is based on the principle of "step by step" and the mutual fulfillment of commitments.

He emphasized that any agreement requires guarantees against the United States or Israel returning to wage war, noting the ongoing disputes over the nuclear file and the Strait of Hormuz, while affirming "good faith" in achieving lasting peace.

Ghalibaf considered that the former U.S. President Donald Trump "did not achieve his goal" of changing the regime or destroying Iran's offensive and missile capabilities, warning that the Iranian forces "will respond" to any escalation, and stressing that Tehran does not trust its adversaries despite ongoing communication channels through intermediaries.
