US Official Renewal of War Possible if Iran Negotiations Fail

Khaberni - President Donald Trump held a meeting in the White House situation room to discuss the renewed crisis around the Strait of Hormuz and negotiations with Iran, according to U.S. officials for the site "Axios".

A senior U.S. official said that if a breakthrough in the negotiations does not occur soon, a war could resume in the coming days.

The situation room meeting was attended by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, who is expected to participate in the next round of negotiations with Iran, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Treasury Secretary Scott Besent, according to a U.S. official.

The official said that White House Chief of Staff Suzie Wiles, White House Envoy Steve Witcov, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kaine also attended the meeting.

Axios quoted a source familiar with the details of the talks between the United States and Iran, stating that the renewed crisis flared up in Hormuz after progress was made in reducing the gaps concerning the enrichment of uranium in Iran and its stockpile of enriched uranium.

Iran announced that it is considering "new" proposals it received from the United States as part of mediation efforts led by Pakistan between them to put a final end to the war.
