Khaberni - An interrogation session will be held in Paris on Monday as part of a French judicial investigation targeting the X platform, to which its owner, tech mogul Elon Musk, has been summoned, amid questions about whether he will attend.
The Paris Public Prosecutor announced in February that Musk was summoned to appear before it on April 20, following an inspection of the X platform’s offices in France due to suspicions of infringements.
The French Public Prosecutor Laur Bico stated at that time that Musk and Linda Yaccarino, the former CEO of the platform, were summoned for interrogation "as the actual and legal directors of the X platform during the period of the alleged offenses."
The procedure is part of an investigation initiated in early 2025 based on complaints made by deputies denouncing bias in X’s algorithms.
The investigations have since expanded to include other crimes, including collusion in the possession, distribution, showing, or facilitating of child pornography and deepfake sexual content.
The X platform has denounced the French actions as "politicized".
It considered the allegations on which the raid was based "baseless," vehemently denying "committing any offense."
It stated, "The Paris public prosecution clearly seeks to exert pressure on the management of the X platform in the United States by targeting its French entity."
The French judiciary issued a notice to the American authorities, which took a supportive stance towards X on Friday, according to a letter sent to the French, the content of which was published by the Wall Street Journal on Saturday.
The Office of International Affairs at the Department of Justice saw in the letter that the French investigation contradicts the First Amendment of the American Constitution concerning freedom of speech.
The letter, as reported by the newspaper, noted that the requests to the American authorities "constitute an attempt to drag the United States into a politically sensitive criminal process that arbitrarily targets the regulation" of X's activities.
In addition to Musk and Yaccarino, "employees at X were summoned for interrogation between April 20 and 24, 2026," according to Bico.
The public prosecutor stated that "these voluntary interrogations with executives will allow them to present their stance on the facts, and if necessary, clarify the measures proposed to comply with the rules."
