Iran Announces Increase in War Toll to About 3500 Dead

Khaberni - The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans in Iran announced on Saturday that nearly 3500 people were killed in the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran late February.

ISNA agency reported the head of the foundation, Ahmad Mousavi, saying, "A file has been opened for 3468 martyrs who fell during the recent conflict."

A previous toll announced by the Forensic Medicine Organization on April 12, reported the death of 3375 people.

The non-governmental organization "Human Rights Activists News Agency" (HRANA), based in the United States, counted as of April 7, at least 3636 people killed, including 1701 civilians among them at least 254 children, in addition to 1221 military personnel, and another 714 whose status has not been determined.

A ceasefire between Iran, the United States, and Israel, lasting two weeks, has come into effect on the night of April 7-8 as part of a mediation led by Pakistan, which includes negotiations aimed at definitively ending the war.
