Video A Seagull Invasion Halts a Match in the Australian League

Khaberni - The match between Melbourne Victory and Newcastle Jets, part of the Australian Football League competitions at "AAMI Park", saw a funny and unusual incident that stopped the game during the last moments, after large flocks of seagulls suddenly invaded the pitch.

In the 90th minute, as the match was drawing to its final moments and the score was tied at 2-2, Newcastle Jets midfielder Lachlan Bayliss was preparing to take a direct free kick, only to be surprised by birds swarming the execution area, hindering the continuation of play and forcing the referee to temporarily stop the match until the pitch was cleared of the unwanted guests.

Despite the match being thrilling and ending in an exciting draw with two goals for each team, the "Seagull Invasion" was the most prominent event that captivated the audience's attention. These birds, known for their mischief in stealing fans' snacks, became a hot topic on social media platforms after clips of the incident spread widely globally, allowing the seagulls to steal the spotlight from the football stars on a night Melbourne’s stadiums will never forget.
