Khaberni - A statement attributed to the Supreme Iranian Leader Mujtaba Khamenei on Saturday warned that the Iranian Navy is fully prepared to defeat the American forces, amidst rising tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement published on his Telegram channel, Khamenei, who has not appeared publicly since his election, said that the navy forces are "on full alert to give the enemies the taste of new defeats."
Iran announced on Saturday that it has restored "strict control" over the Strait of Hormuz in response to the ongoing U.S. blockade, reversing its decision of the previous day to reopen this vital maritime passage for global oil trade.
The Central Operations Room of the Iranian forces stated that Iran agreed in good faith to allow a limited number of oil tankers and commercial ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz," but "unfortunately, the Americans continue(...) to practice piracy under the so-called blockade."
