Khaberni - French President Emmanuel Macron announced the killing of a French soldier and the wounding of three others in southern Lebanon this morning, during an attack targeting UNIFIL forces.
Macron demanded that the Lebanese authorities immediately arrest the perpetrators and take responsibility alongside UNIFIL.
Meanwhile, the French Minister of the Armed Forces stated that the soldier was killed by direct gunfire in an ambush in southern Lebanon, confirming that the soldiers were attacked from a very close range by an armed group.
In turn, UNIFIL forces reported the killing of a soldier and the wounding of three others as a result of a patrol being targeted by gunfire from non-governmental entities in southern Lebanon.
UNIFIL indicated that initial assessments suggest that the gunfire came from non-governmental entities alleged to be Hezbollah.
