AlShara We may engage in prolonged negotiations to resolve the Golan issue

Khaberni - Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shar'a explained that his country is moving away from alignment policies, and is working to transition from being a "mailbox for conflicts" to a great opportunity for sustainable investment.

In relation to the relationship with Iran, he noted that Syria had previously suffered attacks from it through support of the defunct regime against the Syrian people, and yet Syria did not engage in the confrontation between Iran, the United States, and Israel, emphasizing a push towards diplomacy and regional stability. He also praised the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump to stop the war in Lebanon, expressing hope in reforming paths to prevent the recurrence of wars.

The Golan dossier and the field situation
President Al-Shar'a described any country's recognition of Israel's rights to the occupied Golan as "invalid," affirming the international community's adherence to Syria’s sovereignty over the land.

He revealed efforts to reach a security agreement that ensures the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation from the lands occupied after the fall of the defunct regime on December 8, 2024, and the return to the 1974 lines, pointing to the possibility of engaging in long-term negotiations to resolve the Golan issue if the agreement ensuring both parties' security is successful.

On domestic affairs, he announced efforts to implement the integration of "QSD" into state institutions, confirming that northeast Syria is free from any foreign bases.

The economy and reconstruction
President Al-Shar'a explained that Syria has begun exporting shipments of Iraqi oil, and there is an international trend towards regional connectivity and exporting products through Syrian territories, including the "Four Seas project."

He confirmed that the current approach relies on encouraging investment and improving the economy and self-reliance, with a rejection of politicizing aid or conditioning it with terms. He concluded by noting that Syria is reclaiming its glory today as a beacon of peaceful coexistence, working to overcome the strife and isolation caused by the policies of the defunct regime, becoming a major station for securing supply chains and energy supplies between the East and the West.
