Middle East University Parliaments Gathering and a Student Statement Renewing Loyalty on Flag Day

Khaberni - Under the patronage of the President of the Board of Trustees of Middle East University, the university hosted a forum for presidents of Student Parliament councils and unions from 18 Jordanian universities.

The forum reflects the university's commitment to embedding the culture of parliamentary work within the academic environment, as a practical extension of participatory democracy concepts and a real space for preparing youth leaders who possess tools for dialogue and decision-making.

The forum saw extensive participation from student union representatives, discussing ways to develop the parliamentary experience within universities and mechanisms to enhance its effectiveness to ensure an accurate representation of the student voice and to help build more effective communication channels with university administrations.

According to Dr. Yaqoub Nasser Al-Din, the President of the Board of Trustees of the university, the current phase imposes a pivotal role on universities in keeping up with the outputs of the Royal Committee for Political System Modernisation, particularly regarding empowering youth and enhancing their participation in public life.

Concurrently with the forum and on the occasion of Jordanian Flag Day, student representatives from universities and student unions issued a statement affirming their solid support behind the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, emphasizing their confidence in his wisdom and balanced approach in managing various issues, aimed at preserving national interests and maintaining stability.

The statement confirmed the students' pride in the Jordanian stance on the Palestinian issue, their commitment to national and nationalistic principles, alongside their appreciation for the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, regarded as a historical responsibility and a pivotal role in protecting the Arab and Islamic identity of the city.
