Iran insists on its right to enrich uranium

Khaberni - On Wednesday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized Tehran's "non-negotiable" right to enrich uranium, noting at the same time that the level of this enrichment is "negotiable".

The ministry's spokesperson Ismail Baqaei said in a weekly press conference that the right to obtain civilian nuclear energy cannot be "forced away under pressure or through war".

He added, "In terms of the level and type of enrichment, we have always said that the issue is negotiable. We have emphasized that Iran has the right to continue enriching according to its needs," pointing to a "non-negotiable" right.

Baqaei confirmed, "Since Sunday, when the Iranian delegation returned to Tehran, several messages have been exchanged through Pakistan" following the failure of the negotiations that took place over the weekend.

He continued, "It is very likely that today we will receive a Pakistani delegation continuing the discussions that took place in Islamabad."
